What is G Shock and why G Shock?
Casio has been around for 40 + years with its first g shock watch being made available in 1983. Casio has some years under their belt as well as durability to back them up. You will never go wrong in choosing any g schock available today. It is my personal preference when choosing a watch that is dependable for any situation including camping, hiking, and mountain biking. In my personal preference it is probably the most durable watch available today within a 100 dollar price range. Shop Casio and you will be happy you did.
G Shock GA 100 Review (Model G Shock GA-100C-8ACR)
I purchased my G Shock GA-100C-8ACR about a year ago now, and I have never been more satisfied with a watch than this one. It does have some downfalls that I will list later however its durability, features, and awesome looks far outweigh the cons. I was looking for an all around stylish watch that had all of the great G Shock features with it. After some hard research and alot of searching I settled on the GA 100. With its combination of a digital / analog display, a large face, along with a digital display of the date it was everything that I was looking for with it being stylish modern and durable. I always liked the look of the analog display yet I still wanted the watch to be digital so this was a win win. Not to mention the beautiful combination of the watch being dark gray with accented neon blue analog dials my model of the G Shock GA 100.
Shock and magnetic resistant – Some g shock watches are not magnetic resistant but I would highly recommend having this in the event of an accidental contact with a large / strong magnet
Water Resistant up to 200 meters / 660 feet – Not quite diving depth but will work for most people. Swimming with my g shock watch has never been a problem. It should work just fine for shallow scuba diving
World time – Very handy if you do any sort of travel, even if you don’t travel very often. It is very easy to switch to a different time zone whenever you need to then switch back whenever you are back home
Calendar – This watch comes fully loaded with pre programmed calendars until 2099 so you should never have to worry about setting the date (unless your battery runs out)
Easy to use stopwatch, speed indicator and countdown timer
Orange LED light – Light is slightly dim. Since the light only shines on the analog hands it can be difficult to see the digital date / time. However it is not impossible and the amount of time that the LED stays on is adjustable to give you a little more time which helps when you are trying to read the digital information
Daylight Savings Time – Not automatic on this watch. Not a huge downfall considering it is a very simple setting change.
So what is the best g shock you ask?
In my opinion the GA 100 is the king of g shock. Its looks and functionality works well in any environment whether it be professional, outdoors and even in sports.
Where to buy a G Shock GA 100
By far the cheapest deals I have found on Casio G Shock watches are on Amazon. I got my G Shock GA-100C-8ACR on Amazon for 70 dollars which is a steal compared to the 100 dollars that Casio and Zoomiez wanted. It may be higher or lower now, but still under 100 dollars is a great deal. Now that you know how awesome this watch is, do the pleasure of getting yourself one and let me know your thoughts on it!
Here are a few photos of my G Shock GA-100C-8ACR including one where I am actually wearing it so you can get a feel of the size. I would say I have average size wrists and in my opinion it doesn’t look too large by any means. Please excuse the dust particles (they are not scratches, oh did I mention that this watch does not scratch easily?). Also there is a photo of the orange LED if you are interested in how it illuminates and what the digital portion looks like when illuminated
